The Lake Shetek Walleye Fishing Tournament committee is a group of enthusiastic volunteers that have been involved with the walleye fishing tournament for the past 16 years. The Committee is a certified 501(c)3 organization that raises approximately $5,000 per year from the tournament to support needed improvement to Lake Shetek, one of the largest sport-fishing lakes in southwestern Minnesota.

The Annual Lake Shetek Walleye Tournament is held on the first Saturday after the Minnesota Fishing Opener weekend. The tournament has averaged 120 boats of 2-person teams.  Money raised from the tournament is used for improvements to the lake and its facilities.  In just the past three years, our organization has spent $9,000 buying new aerators for the south lake and repairing the existing aerators on the north lake.  We have also gifted $15,000 to the lake association over the past 16 years for additional improvements.

Lake Shetek is a historical and economically-sustainable part of our region. Our Committee wishes for the best for the lake:  continued responsible usage, increased tourism, and improvements to better water quality and the fish population.
